The world renowned spiritual teacher Dr. Wayne Dyer teaches in his book, Excuses Begone, that each night when we go to bed we decide what our night, our next day and our life will be like by what we tell ourselves before we fall asleep. Most people review every negative aspect of their day and their life just before they fall asleep. They remember every insult and mull over every problem, large and small. Then they fall asleep or don’t sleep well because their mind boils and stews about all the problems for the next eight hours or so. The unconscious mind then decides that since these were their last thoughts, this must be what they want and so then their life becomes a series of continuous challenges mixed in with a lot of negative relationships at home, at work or wherever they are. Does this sound familiar?

Dr. Dyer suggests that instead we spend the last five minutes of our day, just before falling asleep telling ourselves what we want and then allowing ourselves to experience how that would feel.

Some suggestions for bed time thoughts are:

I am a beautiful spiritual being.
I am happy all the time.
I am healthy and strong.
I have a wonderful and loving relationship with everyone in my life.
I have a great job.
My body is just the right size for perfect health.
I only want to eat food that is good for me.
I love to exercise.
Make up your own affirmations in which you experience exactly the life you want. Remember, after each affirmation to take a second and feel the happiness and the good feeling that having what you want gives you. For the next hours that you sleep your unconscious will see these intentions instead of the negative ones. Now, watch your life transform.

May you walk in peace today knowing you are blessed and a blessing in the world.
